05 October 2014

14th Annual Double Reed Day at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee

On Saturday, Novmeber 1, 2014 the double reed faculty at UWM will host our annual Double Reed Day. The event is open to players of all ages and levels. Come join the UWM Music Department’s double reed faculty and your fellow players for a day of master classes, workshops and faculty and ensemble performances. The day begins with an ensemble rehearsal for all participants, followed by several master classes and chamber group reading sessions. Browse the double reed vendors in the afternoon, and end the day with a recital featuring UWM faculty and the Double Reed Day Ensemble. Register early to receive your ensemble music!

Your event hosts are Katie Young-Steele who is the principal oboist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra; Beth Giacobassi who is the contrabassoonist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra; and myself.

This year we are featuring two guest artists. Andrea Gross-Hixon is principal oboe of the Green Bay Symphony and Lecturer of Music at UW-Oshkosh.  Rudi Heinrich is the assistant principal bassoonist of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
